Account of the special week devoted to the Monkeys of Niederhausbergen

8 December 2021

From the 18th to the 24th of last October, in collaboration with Fight for Monkeys we organised a special ‘Justice for the Monkeys of Niederhausbergen’ week.

We published daily on social media to alert the public about the exploitation of the primates at the primatology Centre at Niederhausbergen.

Each post was designed to enlighten readers about a particular aspect : experimentation on the different species at the Centre ; the terrible conditions of their importation and exportation … In effect the Centre for primatology, using the Silabe platform of the University of Strasbourg, gets its primates from Mauritius, Vietnam, or Cambodia, with the collaboration of Air France-KLM. The suffering of these animals is not limited to the experiments they undergo in the lab ! It starts well upstream, with their capture and abduction from their habitats to the laboratories.

During the special week we re-published the 2020 virtual March – the first in Europe – jointly organised with Fight for Monkeys and RAO Reporters, and which was supported by numerous French personalities, including the Buddhist monk and scientist Matthieu Ricard, the actor and novelist Anny Duperey, the journalist Aymeric Caron
